Are You Feeling Stuck?

We’ve all experienced times in our lives when we’ve felt stuck or limited in some way. Whether it’s because we were too afraid to go for something we really wanted, perhaps felt powerless to a destructive habit or overwhelmed by stress, anxiety and negative thoughts. We’ve all struggled in one way or another and often aren’t aware of the destructive coping strategies which prevent us from being the person we want to be. We are all fellow strugglers, And of course, I am no exception.

What I have found to be true is that we do not have to remain stuck. We always have a choice, and there will always be a way forward. Sometimes we need to dig deep to confront the things that prevent us from being happy in our own skin, to be with the person we are, and to live in a way which lines up with who we really want to be. And that’s why I’m here.

 

What next?

Together we can explore what’s really going on underneath. It is often the case that we are strangers to ourselves. Sometimes it takes the right questions to uncover what it is we need to understand about ourselves in order to let go of a problem and move forward with our lives. And the answers can very often surprise us.

As the therapist Dr Brian Roet says “everything is about something else”. So be gentle with yourself and adopt an open-minded and curious approach to what might arise during the sessions

You are NOT lost or broken!

‘Finding yourself’ or ‘fixing yourself’ – That’s not really how it works. You aren’t lost or broken.

Finding yourself, or fixing yourself is actually returning to yourself. An unlearning, an excavation, a remembering of who you were before the world got its hands on you” (Emily McDowell is right)

Sometimes changing and growing is about unlearning – of all the stuff the world tells us we need to be, to be good enough.

Let go of the past... It's never too late to rewrite your story!

We don’t have to let our past define who we are. We all experience traumas one way or another when we’re growing up and going through life. No one gets away unscathed. Sometimes life can be truly tough, we must fight to survive. As a result we can get stuck in the pain of our past and become trapped in a narrative which doesn’t help us – perhaps with thoughts such as “bad things always happen to me”.

The great news is that actually, we GROW through what we go through and I am a firm believer that out of our pain comes our power. We get to choose the narrative of our lives. Life is not what happens to us but how we respond to it.
